Don't talk nonsense! \pageBreak works perfectly well by itself.
The reason that it doesn't work in the Regression Tests document
is that lilypond-book is playing tricks.

Just try it in a normal .ly file and you will see that it works excellently.

By the way, always tell what LilyPond version you use (I just tried with
2.7.38 and 2.6.6 to verify that it works).
