I don't know about that. I ran a few files through with and without that line:

With point-and-click enabled: 76K, 112K, 99K
Without point-and-click enabled: 32K, 37K, 41K

That's not 5-10x bigger, but all of them are at least 2x bigger..

I don't think Windows users have a lot of choice over which version of
GS to use. (The OP didn't mention which OS he's using).
