Hello !

I found your article
http://sca.uwaterloo.ca/lilypond/lilypond.org/doc/v2.7/Documentation/user/music-glossary/source/Documentation/user/music-glossary.html
very informative and amazingly complete.

But there is a major problem with the name of notes and rests.

In English (and maybe in other languages), the name of both notes and rests are
the same. But that is NOT the case in French.

I was consulting your web site to find the French name of the "breve rest" on
your web page. Not only did I not find the answer to my question, it turned out
the French names of all the rests are MISSING too.

What you listed was the NAMES OF NOTES only.

May I propose what is missing? Here is the French names of RESTS:

U.K. NAMES U.S. NAMES FRENCH
breve rest double whole rest (double-pause???)
semibreve rest whole rest pause
minim rest half rest demi-pause
crochet rest quarter rest soupir
quaver rest eighth rest demi-soupir
semiquaver rest sixteenth rest quart de soupir
demisemiquaver rest thirty-second rest huitième de soupir
hemidemisemiquaver rest sixty-fourth rest seizième de soupir

Grouping the names of notes and rests is a very bad idea in the perspective of
the French language. Whatever you choose to do, I would like you to include the
French names of rests, too.

Apart form this problem, I found your web page very well done. This is a
reference worth saving for future inquiries.

Sincerely,

Claude Routhier,
Montréal
