Hi,

When trying to answer a question today at lilypond-user, I downloaded
http://jeffcovey.net/music/scores/victoria/o_magnum_mysterium/ly/o_magnum_mysterium.ly
ran convert-ly and lilypond and got the following errors:

Parsing...
/tmp/o_magnum_mysterium.ly:75:26: error: syntax error, unexpected '~'
 a4 bes2 a4 bes1\melisma
                         ~ bes ~ bes ~ \melismaEnd bes
/tmp/o_magnum_mysterium.ly:91:13: error: syntax error, unexpected '~'
 f \melisma
            ~
/tmp/o_magnum_mysterium.ly:124:13: error: syntax error, unexpected '~'
 f \melisma
            ~ \melismaEnd f1
/tmp/o_magnum_mysterium.ly:201:15: error: syntax error, unexpected '~'
 bes \melisma
              ~ \melismaEnd bes1
error: can't find music object: OldLyricCombineMusic

The file compiles without errors in 2.8.7.
It seems that we have at least two compatibility problems here:
- ~ isn't allowed after \melisma, which it was in 2.8
- \oldaddlyrics no longer works.
At least, convert-ly should try to detect these situations and warn the user
(if it can't fix it automatically, which of course would be preferable).

  /Mats
