Right, but...I'm picking on these issues because I understood that it was one of your stated goals to make Lilypond produce excellent notation *without tweaking* as much as possible. Repositioning rests definitely counts as a tweak. It may be necessary for special cases, but should not be necessary in general, if I understand Lilypond's design goals correctly.
