Some years ago, I proposed to rename the R1 construct from "multi-measure rest"
to "full measure rest", which I think would prevent some common beginners
questions. Since the final measure in your example will not be a full measure, it seems a bit strange to use a full measure rest symbol and not "r2 r4". However, I'm not sure what the common typesetting practice is. Do you have reference to any typesetting rule or examples of typeset music that use full measure rests for
incomplete final measures?
