That makes sense; it's ghostscript that's broken.

This is normal.

See the options; -f=svg is not valid.  It should probably print an error 
message.

See the "notes for the OSX app" in the unstable docs; I changed them 
about a month ago.  Follow those new instructors, and let me know if 
that improves things.
