I'd call it a missing warning. Try this: bf1^\markup{ \override #'(font-name . "Courier") { Ceci n'est pas une B } \normal-text \flat } This has been entered as http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=313 Cheers, - Graham
