Thanx for your reply.
But in fact it was indeed in the \layout {\context {\Score.
However i tried it to put it directly as you have proposed but without
result.
And by the way it works fine with version 2.11.22 but not in the 2.11.23
( i am using the Linux x86 version).

Hmm; Maybe it's an issue in the Linux build? I just downloaded 2.11.23
and it works fine with the following snippet ...

%%% BEGIN %%%

\version "2.11.23"

\new Staff {
  \override Score.BarLine #'transparent = ##t
  c'1
  c'1
  c'1
}

%%% END %%%

... which produces the output attached.

This is all on an OS X Mac, though, which is why I'm guessing it's
maybe a Linux issue?

Can you send the example minimal fragment you're trying on Linux and
I'll compile under OS X?
