No it is not. This is a known bug that affects the Mac Intel
application; you can see a huge discussion about it on our bug

Yes. We haven't managed to get the interface to work yet.

The good news: yes you can.
The bad news: it will be much less user-friendly (i.e. no interface,
you will have to write your files using a separate editor -- I
recommand Smultron -- and then compile them using the command-line,
for instance with Terminal).
Download the PPC version on lilypond.org, and then follow the
instructions provided on
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.11/Documentation/user/lilypond-program/MacOS-X-on-the-command_002dline
It is totally achievable, but you'll need to be more patient :)
