I suggest that we create OTF files on the fly for all vertical and 
horizontal lines
(bar lines, staves, stems, etc.).

Regarding the pixel rounding stuff: I don't get the impression that gs 
or xpdf obey
it in case there is one.  Can you elaborate, please?
