Hello, LilyPond Staff:

I'm writing a book on music (the title is my e-mail address), so I
desparately need LilyPond to insert dozens of musical examples into my text in
Word. I followed all instructions, got to the end, and then ended up in a
vicious circle. According to the "Congratulations" message, after the PDF
file appears showing "A scale in LilyPad," that should be it. Yet every time
that I try to open the program, I get the "Congratulations" message again. I
have been trying this for a week now...

Other things that happen are: 1) I get the black screen titled
C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe. But I was once even able to get rid of that by
doing:  Start -----> Run -----> regsvr32 /i shell32.dll -----> Enter.

2) A message telling me that Adobe cannot open the file.

3) A message telling me that Windows cannot open the file because it does not
know which program created it. It asks me to tell it which program to use.
That I don't know, because it is Adobe PDF that has the scale in LilyPond.

4) A message telling me that the file cannot be opened because the computer
cannot find libfontconfig-1-dll. I tried Start -----> Run -----> typed that
in -----> Enter, but that did not work, either. Also, after the download,
under "Show details," everything listed (and there was an awfully long list)
showed 100%.

One more thing. It says in the "Congratulations" message that version
2.10.0 is needed before one can upgrade. But on the other hand, I have also
had a message saying that a previous version of LilyPond has been found, and
that I must uninstall it first.

So that's it. I'm at my wit's end. No more ideas in this head. Can you
help, please? Thank you, Joseph.
