It's because Renaud's example was a latex doc :-)
OK, I have finally reproduced the bug. First time I *ever* use
lilypond-book (other than for compiling docs)!
Francisco, you can test it using the example at
http://kainhofer.com/~lilypond/Documentation/user/lilypond-program/An-example-of-a-musicological-document.html
You'll see what it needs latex for :)
