Bad character encoding in console output under WinXP

Hello,
I use lilypond in WinXP.
The italian console output, when I launch the program, is wrong encoded.
E.G.:

"L'output MIDI è inviato a <midifile>"
instead of
"L'output MIDI è inviato a <midifile>"
("MIDI output has been sent to <midifile>")

I can't remember if it has always been like this, sure it's since v. 2.10.5x

This of course doesn't  affect at all the functionality of the program  (as I 
can guess) but if it could not be a source of problem, it sure is not nice, 
expecially for the average new WinXP italian/non-english user, already scared 
by the non-GUI interface.
