Compiling LilyPond with a recent GCC produces many warnings such as:

"warning: conversion to 'char' from 'int' may alter its value"

It would be nice if a "code janitor" or anyone could fix these.

Accordingly to Joe, "there are some places (particularly ttf.cc) where it
could be _slightly_ more interesting than just adding explicit casts."
