Yes, this was under Preview.
I also looked under Adobe Reader 8, and at high magnification, file 2 has
thicker barlines than file 1. At 100%, 2 looks better than 1, but both look
pretty bad due to low resolution on the monitor and no dithering -- stems
have variable thicknesses, etc.
