New issue 1044 by percival.music.ca: strip-whitespace in lily-git
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1044

It would be nice if lily-git automatically called
scripts/auxiliary/strip-whitespace.py before creating a commit.

Actually, it would be even better if lily-git implemented a
strip_whitepace_file function in tcl, which trimmed all right-handed
whitespace from the files before creating a commit.

Not adding, or removing, trailing whitespace is a SERIOUS problem for new
committers. I don't know what's up with the editors they use, but in the
past 6 months, about 50% of all first-attempt patches have contained
trailing whitespace problems. Some of them I reject, others I accept and
fix myself, but it's a huge pain and should be handled by lily-git.

Frog: assuming no previous familiarity with tcl, but an honest willingness
to learn: 2 hours.
