Comment #4 on issue 1017 by ahawryluk: migrate old essay

Thanks for the review! Each of these was a deliberate decision, but not necessarily
the final answer.

In the section
http://lilypond.org/web/about/automated-engraving/typography-features
it is the Henle examples that are missing (if I understand your description
correctly). This was done in the case of the flat symbol because of the larger set of
font examples that follows. The ledger lines were then made to match.

The replacing of the Software section
http://lilypond.org/web/about/automated-engraving/software
was even more deliberate: its the reason I volunteered for the rewrite. The ugly beam edge was fixed the same year in maintenance version 2003b, and the flat collision is actually quite difficult to produce. A simple "update layout" command would have solved the spacing, and in current versions almost every edit triggers an update. Hopefully the new version demonstrates the aesthetic differences between the Finale and LilyPond while highlighting more substantial shortcomings in Finale than the old essay did. (I suppose the reader will have to decide whether I was successful.)
