There's no way \partial will be made smarter since it's just a context
property
override (and it's not part of the bug here anyway).
I don't think we should recommend misusing \partial here; it would be
better to
recommend an explicit measurePosition setting or (slightly more
complicated) changing
measureLength for the first alternative.
