Yes: believe it or not, I had just found that the line 937 did remove the  
last two
characters.  But either the condition is wrong, or the $id does not contain  
what it
should.  Removing CC'ing to RK.  Less comments from now on, I know this is  
too much
noise on many people's mailboxes.
