http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=442Dynamic is hard, for the same reason that you can't \override VerticalAxisGroup in the middle of a piece: the engraver only creates one VerticalAxisGroup for the whole piece. But here's a patch that does the engraver version:
