http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1205This used to be possible before 2.10, but the generation of tempo commands was changed as part of deprecating \tempo in \midi {}: instead of using an event, context properties were introduced. These are checked at every timestep, so must change to allow a tempo mark to be visible.
Reintroducing an event would be desirable, since it simplifies the display method and allows point and click.
