Can't get Lilypond to install

Subject: Can't get Lilypond to install

I just tried to download and install Lilypond to my Mac, 
OS 10.4.11. I can open the introductory page, but I 
get an error message when I click 'compile > typeset file' 
which says:

OSError: [Errno 8] Exec format error


What do I do now?!
