At 03:56 08/10/2010, you wrote:
The default value for #'between-staff-spacing #'padding is "1", and
the default value for #'between-staff-spacing #'space is "9". So, if
I understand correctly, are you saying that the default settings
(without overrides) also scale inappropriately? Attached is an image
of your example without overriding #'between-staff-spacing. Thanks, Patrick
That's correct (I hadn't reduced the problem to that level yet -
thanks). You'd expect the distance to scale linearly with the staff
size, so that you can generate output for a smaller paper size -
'just scale everything up/down'.
In addition, the staff space (measured in pixels) for the default
settings (in the example you attached) is not exaclty constant as
well (I expected it to be). The spacing for size 0 is the smallest,
and __both__ size +3 and -3 have larger between staff spacing. See
the attachment, where I drew a box between the staves that has the
height of the size 0 default settings between staff space.
But there's another problem, namely that it seems to be impossible to
get the staves closer together for default or reduced staff sizes.
See the second attachment.
Thanks,
Marten
