I agree with wbsoft. It's easy to mention \dynamicsUp in Notation 2.1 Vocals -- I'd actually be shocked if Trevor hadn't added this already --

Actually I haven't, but I will.

I was wrong; you were right. I had already added it, but it
was in Score layouts for choral, down in NR 2.1.5 Choral.
This is probably the most appropriate place, but as it applies
more generally than choral music I've placed a reference to
it right at the top.

That said, \dynamicsUp should be added to the vocal templates, if it's not already there.

I'll check.

None have \dynamicUp, but then none have dynamics either.
We can't add \dynamicUp generally, for three reasons:

a) In the past we've tended to try to keep the templates
as simple as possible consistent with showing the main
features, and adding dynamics would complicate them
quite a bit.

b) Traditionally some template types don't have dynamics
on the staff (e.g. hymn tunes and psalms) so it would
definitely be inappropriate here.

c) Also, for many of the templates some lyrics are both
above and below the staves, so placing dynamics is
more complex. This probably need a section of its
own somewhere in NR 2.1.

In fact there are only two templates where \dynamicUp
might be sensibly inserted: A4.4 and A4.5, and the
latter is really illustrating quite a different point.

So I suggest I insert dynamics and \dynamicUp in just
one template - A4.4.
