AIUI, the input file should produce 3 notes: a breve followed by 2 wholes.  
They should occupy 16 beats of space in the resulting score, and 24 beats  
of time in the midi file. The actual display is a breve, and two wholes,  
with blank bars between. This itself is an error, I suspect, as the breve  
should not be followed by a blank bar. The two wholes should also display  
as wholes, per NR 1.2.1 Scaling durations.

The result of midi2ly turns the breve, correctly rendered on input, into a  
tied pair of wholes: correct as to time but wrongly engraved. It turns the  
scaled wholes into tied pairs of wholes, which again is correct as to time,  
but does not reproduce the input.
