Well, I have taken a look at the code, and I am not convinced the second
of the two patches that sneaked in is done in the best way.
So I'll back it out again. I am not sure I have checked the first patch
alone, so it'll take me a few hours to make a proper regtest before
actually reverting the second patch.
What a drag.
