There's nothing wrong with three quavers following a dotted crotchet,  
though I agree that the reverse is incorrect.

If you remember, we deliberately retained the current behaviour for 3/4  
after I argued that it's common in traditionally engraved scores (certainly  
for Classical urtexts from Baerenreiter, for example).
