Uh, does that mean we are using absolute paths? From my painful experiences as a project manager, I can tell that this would be a terrible idea. Not only do we completely lose control over the length of paths and consequently command lines in an actual installation, but we also lose control over their contents. Users just love path names with characters special to sh or make in them.

So I hope that all paths cropping up on command lines are relative paths, and thus completely under our own control.
