Second, why use a mapping of xrefs? Is it to avoid using the redirection files created with NODE_FILES set? Is it because nodes are not really used as targets but sections names are? Is it because of translations?
On the matter of translations, I didn't really understand what @translationof is really used for. I really can't see when the english node name is useful, since everytime a link to the translated node is used?
