AFAICS this function was only introduced in 2.13.44.  Therefore, it doesn't 
cause excessive processing time in earlier versions, because it does 
nothing.  Try a few versions with systems-per-page=4 and you'll see.  I 
think it could be that the excessive processing times with systems other 
than 4 could constitute a bug, but not a regression.  Have you tried it on 
other music with other systems per page?
