I tried changing the beaming structure, but nothing changed. But I am a novice,
so maybe I just did less than I should have.

That is a reality I might have to face. The only problem is that
I am writting a piano book of exercises, and that would mean a HUGE rewritting 
project for me. But, just like you said, I don't really see any alternative.
