It is not expected to. The explanation is in the two following
paragraphs of my Original Message. I emphasized the _iff_ part because
I thought it was very important. Let me repeat:

What I meant is, in case it is not clear, that given that Frescobaldi
does the required configuration, links do work regardless of the OS.
Which proves that the configuration, not the OS, is what matters.
