Subject: can't open lilypond

Hi! I've just installed Lilypond, but it hasn't appeared in my menu, and
when I try to open it from terminal, this shows up:

LilyPond produces beautiful music notation.

Thank you very much in advance!

The first thing I would suggest is to update your LilyPond to 2.16.2 as that is
the latest stable version. The above output indicates that all is well with
your current LilyPond installation. Be aware that LilyPond is *not* an
interactive program like Finale/Sibelius. You prepare a text file for LilyPond
to "digest" for outputting, ususally, a PDF. Start with this:

http://www.lilypond.org/doc/v2.16/Documentation/learning/index.html

There are also GUI front ends available such as Frescobaldi which may be to
your liking.
