Thanks, this is very valuable.  I've tested on my machine and indeed,
the 64 bit version doesn't produce ligatures (until now i've always
used lilypond compiled from source).

I think it makes no sense to have two issues about the same
(apparently) problem.  I'll mark this one as duplicate.
