I've read the CG:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.19/Documentation/source/Documentation/contributor/other-repositories#lilypond_002dextra

which says:

"Be aware that lilypond-extra is the definitive source for some binary
files - in particular PDF versions of papers concerning LilyPond. To add
further PDFs of this sort, all that is necessary is to add the PDF to
lilypond-extra and then add a reference to it in the documentation. The
file will then be copied to the website when make website is run.

*However, pictures that are also used in the documentation build are
mastered in the main git repository. If any of these is changed, it should
be updated in git, and then the updates copied to lilypond-extra.* "

These changes affect the documentation build, because 'make doc' builds
also the website.
So I should make a single patch for lilypond-git and then a patch for
lilypond-extra (for 'make website'?).

I don't understand why it must be so complicated.
I could not find in the CG any valid reason to have pictures in two places
that must be synced.
