Getting up to a reasonable speed with that CG stuff looks to me like a steeper learning curve than for LilyPond itself.  But I won't get involved with that until the Google prerequisite no longer applies.

It isn’t complicated at all, and you just need a Google account for the rietveld code review tool – no gmail address needed, you can even use a throwaway e-mail address for signing up.
Basically, all you need to do is:
– set up a sourceforge account and request write access to the issue tracker
– commit your changes locally
– upload to Rietveld using git-cl <http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.19/Documentation/contributor/git_002dcl> – create a sf issue with Status:Started, yourself as owner and a link to the Rietveld review.

When review is finished, you can send your patch(es) in the final state to the devel list or directly to someone with push access to the LilyPond source.

I say this in the friendliest way possible, understanding your doubts: Come on, just do it ;-)

Best, Simon
