Follow-up Comment #2, bug #28134 (project make):
Well, that may look a little like voodoo, but it seems to work from the few
brief tests I gave it (about 4 kernel builds, I think). It even seems to work
in the less-well-behaved >>f 2>&1 case that I use.
It's part of an automated build checker, so if there are problems with it,
then they will make themselves clear within a week or so.
