I wasn't suggesting you should autoconfiscate it.  I was suggesting the
maintainers of the package should.  PPP is a bit of a special case
because it's been around for so long, it's almost "grandfathered".

I suggest you take a look at the PPP makefiles and see if there's not
some simpler way to go than reworking it for autoconf: that seems like a
huge amount of work.  Certainly you shouldn't attempt it, IMO, unless
you feel that the PPP maintainers are willing to adopt those changes.
Maintaining them out of the tree, as patches, will be difficult.


Well, I used to be one of the PPP maintainers...  20 some years ago.

Hopefully they're still accepting patches from me.  :-)
