Well ... Linux is not Unix, as partisans will proudly tell you, so technically what I said is unobjectionable.  I won't pretend that that's what I meant though. Presumably the real distinction is between statically and dynamically linked binaries; anything linked statically with libc would need to contain an actual FILE struct, not just a pointer to one.

But that aside, we're all in violent agreement so we can let this sub-thread drop.
