Indeed.
Anyway, this bug was reported to Savannah in Oct 2011, and was
resolved a month later. For the details, see
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=34519
So any version of Make after 3.82 (i.e. 4.0 and later) should be free
of this problem. (I tried to reproduce it, but couldn't.)
