Details:
some GNU projects will version their manuals so that it's easy to go back in
time and compare versions, especially when the system you're using isn't
running the very latest versions
for example, autoconf does:
https://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/autoconf-2.67/
https://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/autoconf-2.68/
https://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/autoconf-2.69/
and the default is to just link to the latest version.
could we get something similar for make ? many "current" or "lts" distros are
still running make 3.81/3.82.
