[Bug-mit-scheme] MIT-scheme won't link - needs libcrypto.so.9.7.0

I want to take the "Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs"
Open Courseware course, and have been attempting to install MIT scheme.

I use Gentoo Linux and they have it in their package manager, but when
I install it and attempt to run it, it complains about not finding
libcrypto.so.9.7.0.

Apparently, the Gentoo folks are just using your Linux binary. I get
exactly the same complaint from your website's binary. So I tried
downloading your portable C source, and I find myself in your little,
"You can't install it until you've installed it." trap - the make file
emits a complaint that it can't find mit-scheme. Now I suppose that as
part of my education I can eventually get it installed by following your
instructions on how to bootstrap without your scheme installed.

But it occurs to me that this might all be caused because you guys just
haven't upgraded to OpenSSL 9.8 yet. I presume that when you do, scheme
will be looking for 9.8?

So, might you be kicking out a version that likes 9.8 any time soon?
(Since that's what I have) or might you just make your version just need
libcrypto.so (as opposed to a specific release?)

In the mean time, I'll muck around and try to understand how to
install/bootstrap mit-scheme without mit-scheme.

Thanks for any info or help.
