Hi, I am somewhat new to Parted.
I am running Parted 1.4.24 and I tried to fix "new partition overlapping
with another partition." I would not let me do anything. I recently read
in the mail list archives that the newer version should be able to fix it.
You can read below how the overlapping happened.
My question now is: what is the best way to update Parted to the most
recent version? Should I completely remove the current version and if yes,
how? Or should I do something else?
How it happened:
I recently created another partition (/dev/hda8) (FAT32) using DiskDrake
in Mandrake 7.1. After I restarted the computer, the Diskdrake gave me
errors and I went to my newer Linux OS, RH 8, with the Parted version
mentioned above and I tried to fix the problem. As you see, I had no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Z.Savic
P.S. I am still new to Linux and I was hoping if someone could tell me if
there is a general way to update programs in Linux (any standard
procedure)? Thank you again.
