The story is:
* way back when ext2resize was written by Lennert, e2fsprogs always
made ext2 file systems in a particular way.
* the ext2 code makes some assumptions about this (but verifies that
these assumptions are correct)
* modern e2fsprogs do not conform to these assumptions - hence your
error message.
Possible solutions:
* fix libparted's ext2 code.
* get libparted to use e2fsprogs.
I don't really have time to do either... this is lower priority than
libparted's partitioning functions, which still need attention.
I'm accepting patches, however :) If you need help writing your patch,
feel free to ask me.
