I thought I had already solved this one (oops!).

A simple solution is to figure out the major/minor of the partition,
and to iterate through /proc/mounts, and compare major/minors.

So, libparted/linux.c should be fixed.  Feel inspired to write a patch?
I'm going to be very busy in the next 2 weeks.
