I have encouraged them to (co)-maintain... I look forward to working
with dwm :)

Some patches are just announcements of experimental work, etc.  (eg
hfs).  I do apply bug fixes.  I don't think anyone decided not to send
me a patch to fix this problem because they thought I'd ignore them.

They also don't have to modify partitions.  If you move the start of a
partition, and the boot loader uses legacy BIOS interrupts, you must
know the legacy BIOS geometry.
