Update: parted 1.6.19: Assertion(ptr->rec_len > 0) at ext2_inode_relocator.c:149 in function doblock() failed.

After sending this I remembered something important. After I deleted 
/dev/hdc1, I created a new ext2 partition there, while experimenting. 
That partition was NOT CLEAN, and I had not run e2fsck on it at all. I 
wasn't touching /dev/hdc1, only resiziing hdc6, which was in an extended 
partition, and this failed a couple of times, and I had exited qtparted 
and run e2fsck on hdc6, a couple of times, before getting the assertion 
failure.
