An Iomega 250 Zip drive is connected to a Mesh laptop
via a USB port.
The PC is booting up from Kanotix2005-04 installed on
a hard drive partition.
The intention is to partition a Zip100 disk which is
formatted as FAT to have both FAT and ext2 partitions.
Qtparted is started in a Konsole window.
Space is freed up by resizing the original FAT
partition. An ext2 primary partition is created.
The format command is applied to the ext2 partition
and a bug warning message appears in Konsole window.
parted version 1.6.25.1
Assertion (type !=NULL) at ../../libparted/filesys.c:
404 in function ped_file_system_create() failed
Left click on the Zip drive desktop icon gives a
Konqueror window titled /media/sda
and then error message viz:-
Could not mount device
The reported error was
mount wrong fs type, bad option. bad superblock on
/dev'sda4,
missing codepage or other error
Note that sda4 is the FAT partition.
Command line outputs
dmesg | tail
VFS: Can't find an ext2 filesystem on dev sda4
