bug in GNU Parted

While attempting to test parted return value (contents of $?) I got the following output:

# parted /dev/hdb  mkpart logical 55537 74020

The parted package from RH is: parted-1.6.19-1.EL

The drive in question is a Seagate ST3120213A.
